Design of a novel biosensor for organic matter detection in wastewater

The project in collaboration with Palintest Ltd to investigate and design a new BOD test methodology by constructing and evaluating a MFC bio-sensor. Recently, intensive industrial and human domestic activities have caused ever increasing pollution of rivers, lakes and water reservoirs. A rapid estimation of pollution of environmental objects with organic compounds is a vital component of ecological control. The methods for BOD control using bio-sensors are developed for rapid and efficient analysis. MFC bio-sensor is an integrated device able to provide quantitative and semi-quantitative analytical information with the help of bio-recognition element coupled with a transducer.
